Paint and Coating Removal Water Jetting enquiry

Paint and coating removal water jetting strips suitable finishes before inspection or recoating. We assess the coating and the substrate beneath it because removal is only useful if the retained steel, concrete or masonry remains suitable for the next stage. Suspected asbestos-containing material is not treated as ordinary coating-removal or pressure-washing work.

Coating and substrate response

A representative trial can show how the coating lifts and whether the retained surface is affected.

Debris and washwater control

Removed coating and contaminated washwater are collected according to the material being stripped.

Coating adhesion and substrate response

Layered paint and a firmly bonded coating can respond differently to water jetting. A representative trial can show how the finish lifts and whether the underlying material is affected. Other hazardous coatings also need assessment before disturbance. On steel, pure-water jetting can expose an existing profile but does not create a new abrasive-blast profile.

Coating debris and contaminated washwater

Joints, fittings and nearby finished areas are protected from spray and debris. Removed coating is collected with the washwater, and the handling method reflects the material that has been stripped. Using water without abrasive does not make the resulting washings automatically uncontaminated.

Surface condition before recoating

The stripped area is checked against the requirements of the next coating system. Remaining contamination, moisture and flash rust may need further attention. Retained coatings or inaccessible edges are identified. Visible coating removal alone does not establish that the surface is ready for new paint.

Paint and Coating Removal Water Jetting: common questions

Can water jetting strip every type of paint?

No. Coating type, adhesion and substrate condition determine suitability.

Does stripping create the required profile on steel?

Pure-water jetting should not be assumed to create a new steel blast profile.

Can old paint debris go into a drain?

No. Paint debris and contaminated washwater need controlled collection and disposal.

Why trial a small area first?

It shows how the coating lifts and whether the underlying surface is affected.

Is a stripped surface ready to paint immediately?

The new coating specification may require further cleaning, drying or preparation.
