Hydrodemolition Contractors

Hydrodemolition contractors carry out designer-led concrete removal before repair. The work follows agreed boundaries and includes slurry recovery.

Hydrodemolition Contractors enquiry

Hydrodemolition contractors carry out controlled concrete removal ahead of repair. The method follows the repair designer’s boundaries and the geometry of the working face. Exposing reinforcement in a defined area differs from removing a uniform surface layer, so the intended repair condition needs to be clear before removal begins.

Repair depth and inspection

Removal follows the repair design, with checks as deteriorated concrete and reinforcement are exposed.

Access and slurry control

Water supply, exclusion, platforms and concrete washings are controlled around the removal area.

Repair depth and staged inspection

Deterioration can extend unevenly below the visible concrete. Removal depth and retained sound material are checked as the work progresses. Water jetting can be suitable around reinforcement, but structural geometry and the required repair condition still need engineering judgement. Hand-held and robotic systems also have different access needs.

Working face, exclusion and slurry recovery

Water supply, exclusion and slurry recovery are considered with any platform or scaffolding arrangement. Other trades remain outside the active removal zone. Concrete washings are contained rather than discharged uncontrolled, and the sequence leaves the exposed area available for inspection before reinforcement treatment or reinstatement starts.

Inspection before the repair continues

We identify the concrete removed and any newly exposed condition that affects the repair. Changes to the removal boundary are agreed with the responsible repair team. Hydrodemolition completes the removal stage; reinforcement treatment, new concrete and structural acceptance remain separate stages unless expressly included.

Hydrodemolition Contractors: common questions

Does hydrodemolition include the new concrete repair?

Only where expressly included. Concrete removal and reinstatement are separate stages.

Can the removal depth change during work?

New findings can justify a change, subject to agreement with the responsible repair team.

How are concrete slurry and washings handled?

They are contained and managed through a suitable route rather than discharged uncontrolled.

Why is the exposed area inspected before reinstatement?

The exposed concrete and reinforcement are checked against the repair requirements before the next repair stage proceeds.

Does hydrodemolition provide structural sign-off?

No. Structural acceptance of the repair remains a separate engineering decision.
