UHP jetting uses ultra-high-pressure water for suitable removal and surface-preparation work. The application is assessed before equipment is selected. The highest pressure available is not automatically the correct method for a difficult deposit because the retained material and required finish set the limits.

Flow, nozzle design, stand-off distance and movement affect removal as well as pressure. Coating removal and concrete breakout therefore need different methods. A representative trial or staged inspection can establish how the actual surface responds before wider treatment, particularly where the substrate is delicate or already damaged.

Exclusion, containment and equipment choice

The work area is controlled for the jet, released debris and contaminated water. Remote or robotic equipment may suit some working faces where the access and task allow it. The method also has to protect neighbouring structures and people, and the waste arrangement is based on the material removed rather than the fact that water is the cleaning medium.

Removal standard and substrate limits

The treated area is checked against the intended removal or preparation result, with inaccessible edges and retained material identified. Further inspection or preparation may still be needed before coating, repair or use. UHP describes equipment capability; it is not an assurance that every substrate can be treated without damage.

Is UHP appropriate for ordinary driveway cleaning?

It should not be assumed suitable. The driveway surface should be assessed for a less aggressive cleaning method.

Does UHP always use a hand-held lance?

No. Some applications suit remote or robotic equipment.

Will UHP remove a coating without affecting the substrate?

Material compatibility and control need assessment, often supported by a trial.

Does nozzle distance matter?

Yes. Stand-off and movement affect how the jet acts on the surface.

Is water-only waste always harmless?

No. It contains the coating or process material removed during jetting.
